The Texas connection started early, when a team left from Fresno and traveled to Houston to do an outreach and work with ET (Evangelistic Temple) in late 1971. The ETYO (Evangelistic Temple Youth Outreach) was a great bunch and doing great things. Eventually they merged with us and became part of AF. Their leader, Buddy Hicks, came along as well.

Because of our door to door ministry and our use of the book "Cross & The Switchblade" a connection was made with David Wilkerson who had a ranch in East Texas. That Ranch is now the YWAM Tyler, Twin Oaks base. Soon we found ourselves the proud owners of 400 acres of bare land right next door to Brother Dave.
